Wireless earbuds are getting more popular, but they're not without danger. Some experts believe that wireless earbuds may create dangerous electromagnetic fields that could be harmful to human health. Scientists are beginning to understand the invisible energy fields that can be created by electricity flowing.



Nonionizing EMR



Nonionizing electromagnetic radiation is a kind of radiation that wireless earbuds emit. Although it isn't cancer-causing but it's not clear if these waves are safe for the health of humans. Researchers are still working to determine the full implications of these wireless devices, however some studies suggest long-term exposure to these radiations could pose health risks.



Nonionizing EMR is less harmful than ionizing EMR, which causes heat. Nonionizing EMR could pose health hazards at higher levels. While exposure to these high levels isn't harmful to humans, long-term exposure to radiofrequency waves at a low level can increase the risk of neurological diseases, cancer and DNA damage.



According to the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, ionizing EMR could cause damage to DNA and cells. Certain types of radiation X-rays, ultraviolet light and radiation gamma rays are all examples of ionizing radiation. Bluetooth-enabled devices are now a rage that allow people to listen to music, audiobooks, or podcasts on their phones. This is why billions of these devices are in use.



Although Bluetooth-enabled devices emit a very low amount of radiation but it's not enough to cause any harm to human health. Scientists agree that nonionizing radiation doesn't cause any human harm and isn't sufficient to cause damage to DNA or cells. Although certain studies have suggested that Bluetooth-enabled headphones can cause cancer however, the evidence isn't conclusive. Bluetooth headphones aren't likely to mean they will be banned soon.



High-level radiation



Wireless earbuds make use of Bluetooth technology to transmit audio signals. They can communicate up to three feet away from the user. However, some people are concerned about high-level radiation risks. This is why Bluetooth headphones aren't as secure as wired headphones.




Radiofrequency radiation from wireless headphones like AirPods is very like radiation from cellphones. In 2011 the World Health Organization classified this type of radiation as a carcinogen in the class 2B.  lots more insight here  have published research concluding that this radiation can cause cancer and other health problems in humans.



Wireless earbuds are becoming increasingly popular, however the effects of these devices remain unanswered. While low-level radiation is not harmful, prolonged exposure to ionizing radiation can cause neurological disorders and DNA damage. Bluetooth headphones and radios also emit this radiation. The World Health Organization has classified these products as hazardous and scientists have urged governments to develop stricter regulations regarding their use.



More than 200 scientists sent an open letter to United Nations and World Health Organisation in 2015, expressing concern about wireless earbuds. Although they didn't specifically discuss AirPods the scientists argued for stricter regulations and guidelines. They also demanded greater public and medical education about the health risks of these devices. They also demanded government support for research into the electromagnetic energy's effects on human health.



Wireless earbuds blocked



If you're using wireless earbuds or wired ones, a blocking case can protect them. A typical blocking case contains two pins for power transfer and one pin for data transmission. These pins are kept in the charging case. This requires more space and consumes more energy.

The battery life is among the most significant issues wireless earbuds face. Many models, including the Bose QuietComfort 45 or Sony WH-1000XM5, aren't able to last for very long. The majority of headphones, over- and on-ear come with longer-lasting batteries.
